Rooftop Yoga For The Pups Recap

Rooftop Yoga For The Pups Recap

Rooftop Yoga for the Pups - August 25th, 2018

On a beautiful, sunny morning in Philadelphia, we gathered 145 wonderful souls on the rooftop of the BOK Building in South Philadelphia to take part in a morning of yoga followed by a plant-powered lunch to raise money for Pennsylvania SPCA dogs in need. We are still reeling from all of the fun and love, and wanted to share some highlights from the morning!

This was the seventh Yoga for the Pups event that we have thrown in the last year, and we were so lucky to have the talented and amazing Georgina Berbari, of The Little Flower Petal, here with us to lead the group for her fourth time. Georgina’s class was calming, yet emotionally moving, and everyone in the audience seemed to come away with a sense of tranquility. The Philadelphia skyline also lent itself for such an awesome backdrop for the practice.

Once the yoga class came to a close, we moved into our highly-anticipated door prize raffle, sponsored by so many of our favorite brands. Twelve lucky winners went home with gifts from Sweetgreen, Saxbys, P.S & Co, Snap Kitchen, Healthy Human, United By Blue, and Goldie. We can’t thank our friends at these companies enough for donating.

The final hour and a half of our event was dedicated to socializing, playing with rescue pups, and of course, eating and drinking some amazing food and refreshments. A delicious array of salads were provided by our bffs at Sweetgreen, and our guests seemed to love the healthy options that were up-for-grabs. We are huge fans of the Spicy Thai salad over here, but the Peach + Burrata, Summer BBQ, and Chicken Pesto Parm were also huge hits as well.

Our Philadelphia-based pals at Saxby’s coffee popped up on the rooftop with us to serve refreshing iced coffee to attendees, and after a workout under the sun, we can truly say the coffee tasted even better. Saxbys offered their delicious cold-brew blend along with dairy & nut milk options for guests to enjoy. If you wanted another form of hydration along with your lunch, Honest Tea came to the rescue with a selection of their tasty and organic herbal iced teas. Lastly, what is lunch without a snack on the side? Siete Family Foods graciously contributed bags of their Nacho, Lime and Sea Salt Grain-Free Tortilla chips, and if you haven’t tried them before, you’ve got to put it on your to-do list because, yum.

Lastly, what would a Yoga for the Pups event be without the true stars of the show, the PSPCA rescue dogs!? We were lucky to have four adorable pups on-site for the lunch hour, and as soon as they walked their way onto the roof, all eyes were on them (and rightly so!). Our attendees couldn’t stop giving them all of the love, snuggles and attention. I mean, just look how cute.

From the bottom of our hearts, we want to thank all of the attendees, volunteers, and sponsors for helping to make this event a major success, and for making it possible for us to raise $2000 for the PSPCA. As our Founder, Christopher Cieri, always says, “I don’t want to run a “good business”….instead I strive to run a “compassionate company” and events like this help us live up to that standard.” Thank you to everyone who participated in this Rooftop Yoga for the Pups event. We are already counting down the days until we can join together once again.
