MEET LEILA

Name: Leila

Breed: Pit Mix

Approximate Age:  2 Years Old

Meet Leila, a 2-year-old adorable pittie mix. She was found by a Good Samaritan tied to the side of the road, with a gaping head wound, and brought to the Philadelphia city animal shelter.

The PSPCA Humane Law Enforcement Team was contacted about her condition and immediately moved to pick her up. When they arrived her head wound was so bad her skull was exposed. Knowing that she needed immediate help, the PSPCA team rushed her to the waiting arms of their Shelter Hospital Team.

The Shelter Hospital Team discovered that her skull was fractured, and she could no longer see out of her right eye. It was clear that she had experienced severe blunt force trauma to her head, and needed immediate surgery.

Leila underwent surgery to close her skull wound, and while recovering in the shelter hospital gained many fans. After recovering from her first surgery, her right eye was removed and now she is searching for her forever family. While the PSPCA Humane Law Enforcement team continues to work to uncover what happened to Leila, the important part is that she recovered, and now it's our mission to find her a loving, comfortable and safe home.

Because of her history, she can, understandably, be a bit weary of strangers, and is approved to go into a home with teenagers 13 and up. Given all she has been through it's amazing she is still a bundle of love and joy and whose heart doesn't melt when you see that smile?

We are hoping that, through this new initiative, we can help Leila find her forever home with a loving owner. If you are interested in meeting Leila and talking to the PA SPCA about her simply click the link below and fill out our contact form. If you fill out the form and eventually adopt Leila WE WILL PAY HER ADOPTION FEE!!!!

UPDATE: LEILA HAS BEEN ADOPTED!
